A New York State tax law, which went into effect Saturday, May 31, is demanding that online retailers with ad affiliates in New York apply an 8.75% tax to purchases made by New Yorkers. Overstock.com and Amazon.com have filed petitions with the state in an attempt to have the law overturned.
