New York Sun Shutting Down

With no bailout plan in sight for The New York Sun, the paper is set to close production today, making today’s edition its last. Gawker is also reporting that a memo has been sent out to freelancers at The Sun
informing them of the issue.

In its six year history, the paper did not post profits and was losing an estimated $1 million a month. Investors include Conrad Black, who is now in jail, and Tom Tisch. Sun President and Editor Seth Lipsky commented that while not all the investors had backed out, they were unwilling to finance the paper due to its losses this year.
