Info System for NYC Schools Faces Delays

The system, Achievement Reporting and Innovation System (ARIS), is being developed by I.B.M. and a group of subcontractors.  Supposed to be ready by September according to principals contacted by The Times, ARIS is being designed to allow NYC public school parents to see things
like which courses their children need to graduate or how their test
scores compare with citywide averages.

James S. Liebman, the department’s chief accountability
officer, said on Thursday that the project was “proceeding in an
appropriate manner” and “in the way we anticipated.”  He added that parents should have access to the system by December and that ARIS had an anticipated launch date in the fall, not September, citing the reference to it in Mayor Bloomberg's January State of the City speech.
