Should Public Meetings in NYC Be Webcast?

Introduction 533-A, which would amend NY's City Charter to require that all public meetings be webcast, will be discussed at a hearing of the City Council's Technology in Government Committee on Wednesday, October 29, chaired by Council Member Gale A. Brewer.  Efforts to require the webcasting of public meetings gained steam follwing then NY State Governor Spitzer's Executive Order 3 in 2007 which requires all state agencies and authorities to webcast their public meetings.

The hearing, which we learned about via e-mail, will take place at 10 AM in the 14th Floor Hearing Room of 250 Broadway and it will be open to the public.
