MTA Text Message Alerts Begin Today

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has launched its text messaging alert service. Riders can subscribe here. Riders can tailor the alerts to specific subway lines about which they will receive real-time service disruptions.

The project is modeled after the MTA's email alert system and costs roughly $600,000.
