Daily Variety reports that WNBC-TV, NBC's flagship
station in NYC, has begun making technological upgrades to boost the
content it can provide for Web sites, taxi cabs, grocery stores, and
even hospital waiting rooms. These changes not only include the
retraining of its news staff as "content producers" and the launch of a
new Web site for the channel as we have previously reported, but the
publication also speculates that some of the channel's higher-priced
staff may be exiting.
