NY State Tax to Stay for Amazon Purchases

Amazon has lost a round in its suit against New York State for its mandate to charge New York online customers state taxes on purchases made from out-of-state companies that have at least one person working within the State. The Supreme Court Justice in Manhattan dismissed the suit. Amazon's plan for appeal have not been disclosed.

It is estimated that the State could earn as much as $50 million in two years from taxes collected in this manner.
