PRNewser Plays Cupid; Barely Digital Launches

NYConvergence ORIGINAL

Although we didn't see any matchmaking at last night's PRNewser party at Aspen in Manhattan's Union Square neighborhood, we did enjoy the passed hors d'oeuvres and the roaring fire in the back provided by our hosts Joe Ciarallo and Jason Chupick with (and in no particular order) MediaPost's Kelly Samardak, publicist Tiffany Winbush, AMP3PR Partner Alyson Campbell, 92YTribeca's Amanda Recupido, Precise Effect's Christine Amogan, Breakaway Communications' Gemma Craven, Lippin Group's Matt Biscuiti, social-media strategist Nichelle Stephens, business and food writer Lisa Lacy who donated cupcakes for the guests, communications consultant and writer Josh Sternberg, The Horn Group's Yuna Park, Carol Hochman's Stephanie Swinton, photographer Nick McGlynn, copywriter Andrew Graham, Deloitte & Touche's Chris Faile, Kaplow Commuication's Chaim Haas, Associated Content's Laura Keefe, and on our way to the cab, SavvyAuntie's Melanie Notkin, whom we promise to speak with again soon.

Jumping into a cab with Nichelle Stephens and Matt Biscuiti, we headed to M1:5 in Manhattan's TriBeCa neighborhood for the launch of the Barely Digital channel on NextNewNetworks, an event organized by LaunchSquad and NextNewNetworks' Michelle DeForest.  For those who don't know, Barely Digital is a spinoff of Barely Political which was acquired by NextNewNetworks in October 2007 and the Internet television network's latest channel.  Barely Political rose to fame thanks to its star, Obama Girl, and, as we were informed by e-mail is helmed by Ben Relles, and the new Barely Digital channel will continue to feature Obama Girl Amber Lee Ettinger.

Since it was on the Social Media Week calendar, the place was packed with a who's who in NYC's digital scene, including (and in no particular order), serial entrepreneur Sanford Dickert, video producer and dating coach Bill Cammack, Unigo's Julia Kaganskiy, L magazine's Andrea Rosen, Obama Girl herself, AMP3PR's Alyson Campbell and her team (they're promoting the launch Obama Girl Amber Lee Ettinger's upcoming album), Deloitte & Touche's Chris Faile, Contentinople's Ryan Lawler, The Horn Group's Yuna Park, the Skyscraper Museum's social-media coordinator Audrey Boguchwal, Internet entrepreneur Rita Lee, social-media strategist Nichelle Stephens, blogger Krisanne Crabill, YAI/National Institute's Institute for People with Disabilities Network's Alice Hunt, the Herald News' Meredith MandellNY Tech Meetup Organizer Nate Westheimer, Lippin Group's Matt Biscuiti, photographer Nick McGlynn, Mashable's Brett Petersel, blogger Sarah Cooley, HomeShopr's Maria Ogneva, Abrams Research's Rachel Sklar, Deep Focus' Christian Borges, blogger Rex Sorgatz, Tumblr's David Karp, CNET's Caroline McCarthy, and photographer Brian Van Nieuwenhoven.  If we missed you, we assure you that it was unintention and you can let us know at tips@nyconvergence.com.
