City Council Bill Introduces Open Data Idea for NYC

In NYC's City Council, there is a new bill being spearheaded by Gale Brewer, the chair of the Council's Technology in Government Committee.  The bill, which is up for public hearing on June 29, is aimed at creating new open data standards for the city.

If passed, the bill would compile all of the city’s public data on a single Web site, as well as making the data available in a format so that programmers could develop online and mobile applications out of it.
