New York Bloggers Discuss Local Journalism’s Future

At the Future of Local Media's panel discussion last night, Gothamist's Jake Dobkin, Brownstoner's Jonathan Butler, and Curbed Media's Lockhart Steele, discussed how their sites report on local stories and how they attract advertisers.

Butler was quick to point out that the majority of his site's posts are repurposed from elsewhere or consist mainly of photographs.  Steele noted that many businesses are attracted to his company's sites for advertising because the cost is much less than The New York Times Magazine for example.
