NYPD Tickets 7,529 NYC Drivers for Using Cell Phones

A recent NYPD ticket blitz aimed at New York City drivers using handheld cell phones has resulted in the ticketing of 7,529 drivers.

This was the department's third one-day initiative so far this year to encourage drivers to use a handsfree device in their vehicles.  The department did not release information as to how many of the tickets were issues to taxi drivers.
