The Village Voice has just published their annual "best of" list for people, places, restaurants and entertainment around New York. The list also includes "best of" selections for tech and Web related categories. They include:
- Best Rapper Twitter Feed - Rapper Fabolous, who was originally born in Flatbush, Brooklyn
- Best Multimedia Artificial-Intelligence Arts Group - OpenEndedGroup, a multimedia artists group specializing in tech related performance art
- Best Public-Access Show – Media Funhouse, a public access TV show with an affinity for lost film subjects
- Best New Snarky Media-Gossip Site – the Awl, a media/culture news Web site started by Gawker alums Choire Sicha and Alex Balk
- Best Downtown-Minded Internet Savant – Bucky Turco, the editor in chief of Animal New York
- Best Babel Fish to the Celebrities – Courtney Love Translated, a Twitter feed dedicated to making sense of Courtney Love's Twitter ramblings
- Best Place to Vent Your Renter's Rage – Brownstoner.com, a blog dedicated to New York real estate, namely providing an appraisal tool to calculate how much a property is going to sell for
- Most Addicting Site for Glamorous Narcissists – patrickmcmullan.com, the Web site of party photographer Patrick McMullan
- Best Neighborhood Blog – newyorkshitty.com, a blog dedicated to the world of Greenpoint, Brooklyn
