Gawker To Offer Employees Opp to Be Full-Time

FishbowlNY is reporting that Gawker Media is now offering his employees the opportunity to become full-time employees and work five days a week or stay as contractors and work four days every week.

According to the Web site, if Gawker Media lays off any of the full-time employees in the future, those let go will be able to get unemployment benefits without going through a "lengthy legal battle."

Update: According to Gawker Media Publisher Nick Denton, who referred NYConvergence to his tweets on the subject, the move was made for the purposes of hiring "refugees from print" such as Women's Wear Daily's Irin Carmon.
