NYC Snowball Fight Starts Social Media Blizzard

When "The Blizzard of '09" hit this past weekend in the New York, it gave both tourists and locals a chance to let off some steam in Times Square, where a spontaneous snowball fight erupted near the Duffy Square monument.  James Sims, a blogger and editor for BroadwayWorld.com, was near the fight and was able to use his cell phone to snap a picture, which he tweeted.

Later that evening, Sims discovered that his pic had been re-tweeted by thousand of people and ended up on the Internet culture site Boing Boing.  A photographer, Doug Kim, also captured some images of the snowball fight, which received 68,000 views on CNN’s post about his photos.  Lastly, a Facebook group to commemorate the snowball fight has also been created by several students who claimed they started it.
