Mike Germano (pictured), digital agency Carrot Creative’s president,
declared Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood to be the new focal point for
all things digital in New York City during his address to the attendees
last night at Digital DUMBO’s one-year anniversary event, noting that “Silicon Alley is dead.”
Germano also highlighted the growth that the digital agencies in the
neighborhood have been experiencing in the past year in spite of the economic downturn, the neighborhood's rents, and the new digital shops which have made the area home in the past year, including Purple, Rock, Scissors, sponsors of a previous gathering.

Germano’s and Carrot’s effort to make this designation of DUMBO as
New York’s “Digital District” a reality is being supported by Brooklyn Foundry’s Brian Lemond (pictured) and drop.io’s Sam Lessin (also in attendance last night, but not pictured). AgencySpy reported that they also have the backing of the "Chamber of Commerce," but Germano told NYConvergence that he had spoken with the local business improvement district about this designation.
AgencySpy has a full list of the digital agencies in DUMBO available in their post about the event here.
