Verizon Communications is using its corporate blog to protest the FCC's failure to act on its complaint that NY-based Cablevision is unlawfully withholding HD sports programming. Bill Kula, Verizon Media director said that Verizon requested a decision from the FCC on its complaint within 5 months, but has yet to receive it after 8 months.
According to MultiChannel News, Cablevision has "withheld the terrestrially delivered HD feeds of its affiliated regional sports networks MSG and MSG Plus from telco competitors in New York City,Buffalo, N.Y., and Connecticut". MSG and MSG Plus carry "exclusive game broadcasts for several area teams, including the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres."
