NY Has Shortage of Entrepreneur Technical Talent

Start-up formation is increasing at an exponential rate in NYC, but the amount of engineering talent in the city is static or facing merely linear growth, Matt Mireles of SpeakerText complained in his Business Insider blog. The tech developers who are available don't want to be co-founders
of a start-up, they want to be employees, he said.

Demand for technical talent vastly exceeds supply and the gap seems to be widening, and will get even worse if Wall Street revives, offering six figure paychecks. "Unless we eliminate the choke point around technical talent, the NYC start-up boom is going to turn into another bubble," he warned. People won't start companies here if technical talent can't be found. They'll go elsewhere, he implied.
