Verizon Starts FiOS “Try Out” Offer in NYC

Verizon announced that starting this week,  it will let potential customers in the NYC area (and in its other coverage areas across the country) try out its FiOS Internet/TV service for a month, without charging early contract termination fees if they switch off the service at the end of the trial.  According to an article in Reuters, it is a risky move due to the fact that if customers try the service but then leave after a month, the company could lose lots of money, since it spends roughly $1,350 to install FiOS at a new customer's home.

Also, Verizon recently opened a new FiOS focused store in the University Plaza
on West Market Street in Newark, NJ that lets customers check out and see the features of FiOS, including its DVR and Internet service.
