State Lawmakers Agree on $2.1 B Film, TV Tax Break

The New York State Legislature agreed on a $2.1 billion incentive– $420 million/yr over five years– to keep TV and movie production firms from leaving the state, the New York Post reports.

The state gives out the 30% tax credit to film and TV production companies because doing so ultimately brings jobs and spending far in excess of the original outlay amount. NBC's Law and Order SVU, is expected to move from New Jersey to Manhattan to take advantage of the incentive.
