Meadowlands Stadium Chock Full of High Tech

The new Meadowlands stadium, home to the New York Jets and Giants NFL teams with about $100 million worth of technology invested in it,  is the most technologically advanced sports stadium in the country, Cisco's CEO John Chambers said. The stadium is equipped with four huge high def video display scoreboards and more than 2,200 HD video screens mounted throughout the facility. This technology runs over an all IP, fiber optic infrastructure.

Cisco and Verizon put together 34 channels of HD video programming that will be shown throughout the stadium, letting fans view replays, different angles of the game, and other NFL games. Verizon helped build out a high speed wireless network, and will make mobile apps so fans can get up to the minute information on the team, players and other games going on, as well as stadium alerts. The wireless apps will only work at the venue, to make going to the game a premium experience.  The system also lets each team customize how screens look to their fans.
