Endangered, Video Arcade Action Survives in Chinatown

In an era of interactive online gaming, when video game action has largely shifted to the home, there are still video arcades, although they are a dying breed. In 2005 there were 44 licensed video arcades in NYC; now only 23 remain.

The New York Times profiled the Chinatown Fair video arcade, located on Mott Street, which hosts a healthy crowd on a Friday night. People come to the arcade from all over the city to play "old school games" that more popular arcades don't stock any more, like the classic Street Fighter II from 1991, Ms Pac-Man and Time Crisis.
