The Atlantic magazine recently joined the growing ranks of media outlets posting on NY-based social blogging platform Tumblr, and the Nieman Journalism Lab says that The Atlantic is doing a fine job of experimenting on the site. The goal, according to J.J. Gould , TheAtlantic.com's deputy online editor, is to interact with the quirky new platform, get to know its rules, rhythms and tones.
Atlantic.com is posting its own stories, but is also going far afield, for example posting a link to AtlanticTech's story about competitive lock picking, and a creating a post that links to the photo site 24 Flinching which has gritty photos on the New York Subway system in the 1980s.
