‘The Social Network’ Kicks Off The New York Film Festival

With the New York Film Festival kicking off tomorrow, the festival's opening night film, The Social Network, continues to attract much attention, considering its subject matter concerns the most popular social network in the world-  Facebook.

According to a cover story in this week's Village Voice, The Social Network
is being compared to factually constructed film icons such as All the President’s Men and Shattered Glass.   Village Voice author Eric Hynes says that director David Fincher and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin have shown us through
their film that “it’s no longer corporate entitlement that keeps us up at night
(though it still should), but rather a public-sphere busting Internet.”
