OMMA Magazine took a look at the digital advertising agencies whose creative juices are thriving in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn, trying to discern a common thread that makes Big Spaceship, Huge, Carrot Creative and the other digital agencies so successful there.
While OMMA didn’t come to a conclusion, the agencies in Brooklyn view themselves as different from Manhattan agencies in many ways. Past business models focused on products, but new business models focus on information and creativity. Traditional agencies align themselves with the culture of their clients, structuring themselves around efficiency, rather than creativity. Big Spaceship says it has turned down work that offends its scruples, a luxury afforded by the company’s small size.
