New York Times Advises Users to Update Passwords in Light of Gawker Hacks

With the recent attacks on the Gawker Media blogs by hacker group Gnosis, some companies have been taking precautions and advising their users to change their passwords for their logins, even if their sites have not been attacked.  According to New Enterprise, the latest company to do this is The New York Times, who yesterday sent an email to certain members of it userbase whose email addresses appeared in a searchable database of compromised Gawker accounts.

The email from the Times warned the compromised users that “if they used the same password on nytimes.com as they did on Gawker, it would be a good idea to change it.”
