The popular NYC based blogging platform Tumblr ran into some technical issues yesterday, namely as the site was down for more than 24 hours. The result was an almost predictable outcry from fans and industry observers on the Internet, or as the Daily Transom put it, “the outage prompted annoyance that turned into disbelief and outrage, as Tumblr’s nine million user yearned for cat pictures, magical rappers and photos of Kim Jong Il looking at things.”
Though the outage lead to some online speculation that the site might be down for good, the site returned this morning with an apology to its users from company founder David Karp, who said that the shutdown was “unacceptable for a platform determined to be the best place in the world for your creative expression.”
