New York Voting Must Be Improved, Says League of Women Voters

In a recent announcement, the League of Women Voters said that though New York State has improved its voting technology since 2000,  there are still issues that need fixing.  The main issue they have with NY voting technology is the lack of privacy, as NY voters fill in circles on a “Scantron” like sheet in open voting cubicles, rather than the old style of pulling levers in a private voting booth that had a curtain.

The League has since made several  recommends for immediate changes, all of which have been reveived by the state’s Board of Elections. Some of the recommendations include more voter education,  more training of election workers and a revision of the paper ballot.
