The local NBC station in New York (and in Washington D.C.) has created a new experiment called “The 20,” which will attempt to promote stories that people are tweeting about by following 20 individual who shape the local conversation. They chose their local 20, by combining input from social media organizations, factoring in the trending local headlines, and finding the topics driving local conversation.
Cory Bergman, from Lost Remote, has said that “The 20″ will slowly release out to the market over the next few months. “People increasingly get their news and information from each other.” NBC local media platforms president Greg Scholl told Bergman. “I Think it’s an exciting and innovative idea.”
