In a recent interview with Wired‘s Chris Hardwick, NY-based Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg discusses taking comedy to the online digital platform. His group The Lonely Island, with Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, have produced 65 comedic videos with over 440 million combined views on YouTube. Samberg said its hard to make these profitable because of the need to lower production costs and to more regularly post videos.
Samberg said the Internet has made comedy more easily accessible, makes discovering talent easier and has created a more intimate relationship between the creator and the viewers than television.
