AOL Hires Brooklyn Blogger to Run Community Efforts

Late last week, NY-based AOL hired Brooklyn hyperlocal blogger Liena Zagare to lead its new initiatives to increase community enagamenet for Patch.com, its network of hyperlocal news blogs.  According to paidContent, Zagare will be Patch’s national community editor and will be in charge of “everything that has to do with making people want to come back to the sites.”

Zagare founded a network of local Brooklyn blogs, including the well known Ditmas Park Blog, with her husband Politico writer Ben Smith.  According to Zagare, who says to paidContent about the future of the network, “we’re negotiating what is going to happen to them.”
