NY Network Remains a Challenge, Says AT&T

AT&T CEO John Stankey recently shared his opinions on the progression of service improvement in the NY metro area at the Reuters Technology, Media and Telecommunications Summit earlier this week. According to Stankey, who also attended last year’s summit, service is “better than when I saw you last year and it’s not good enough … We haven’t gotten as far as I would’ve liked to have gotten in this year.”

While the executive did not make any excuses, he pointed out that in NYcity alone, AT&T saw wireless data traffic increase 50 percent from October 2010 to April 2011. He also hastened to add that if the takeover of T-Mobile is approved, it would give the carrier 30% more airwaves in NY.
