Buddy Media Makes “Sapplets” For Hearst’s Magazines

Since Hearst Magazines Digital Media announced their new partnership with NY-based social media application manager Buddy Media, Beta Beat took a closer look at the startup’s unique “sapplet” (social applets) feature.  The “sapplets” introduce game-like aspects into a company’s Facebook page and encourage consumer interaction.  They will offer a new means of advertising for the publishing company, which will launch the applications on multiple brands at once.

Beta Beat also observed the similarities between Hearst’s App Lab, which has been creating tablet versions of Hearst magazines, as well as branding game-like apps to attract advertisers.
