IBM‘s supercomputer Watson is not moving onto Wall Street yet, but lead researcher and principal investigator David Ferrucci said it is a possibility in the future, according to Wall Street & Technology. Ferrucci said Watson could be used to store and recall analyst reports, financial reports, blogs, articles and other valuable financial data.  He continued, “Watson can take the evidence and predict that something might happen…it automates the collection and analysis of the data and can present it to humans to make a final decision.”

Currently, IBM has partnered with Nuance Communications to build a version of Watson specific to the medical field.  IBM’s computer scientists and engineers are setting up Watson, but healthcare professionals with a lot of knowledge of their field will be in charge of operating it.
