Today Time Inc. has announced its list of “10 NYC Startups to Watch,” a list that was chosen by editors from various Time Inc. magazines, including People, Time, Fortune, Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated, InStyle and Real Simple. The editors compiled this list to recognize up-in-coming innovators and entrepreneurs in NY’s tech scene, all of whom will be recognized at a Time Inc. Internet Week NY event next Wednesday, June 8.
The list of startups includes:
- Foodspotting – a service that tells foodies where certain food is being served, based on their location
- Goodsie - a startup that let people set up an e-commerce shop online
- GroupMe – a well documented startup specializing in group messaging
- I-ELLA - an invite-only website that lets members share their closets with fashionistas nationwide
- Manilla- an online service that consolidates all household bills and accounts
- OnSwipe – A platform tthat lets publishers convert websites or advertising into apps
- SocialGuide -a real time, social TV guide that tracks online buzz and conversations
- Wanderfly – a travel site that provides tailored travel recommendations based on users’ interests and budget.
- WarbyParker – a startup that custom designs prescription eyewear and sells directly to users
- Yipit - a filter/aggregation tool for over 500 deal-based Internet services
