NY-based Turntable.fm has passed 140,000 active users in its first month, an impressive number considering its only been open as an invite only beta launch for a month. According to BetaBeat, Turntable.fm is “a browser-based chatroom that streams music based on the choices of a rotating cast of DJs drawn from whoever is in the room.”
Though the company is murky around legal questions regarding music rights, there are still many VCs that want to invest. The company has also been working overtime to fix vulnerabilities as they appear, namely faulty scripts that have been allowing hackers to download songs illegally off the site.
