Following a recent cyber attack on PayPal’s website, 14 suspected members of the loosely-organized hacking group Anonymous have been arrested. The members spanned ten states, were aged between 20 and 42, and all but one has been publicly identified. Increasing their efforts to take down the group, the FBI has also raided three homes of suspected members in NY, including Long Island’s Giordani Jordan, and confiscated computers and other electronic equipment.
The PayPal attack followed WikiLeaks release of classified US State Department cables and was dubbed “Operation Avenge Assange,” referring to WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange. Anonymous hacked PayPal following their suspension of WikiLeaks’ accounts, which was intended to cease donations to the organization.
