Since announcing his campaign to build an applied sciences campus in New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg has received proposals from 27 top institutions from around the world, including Stanford University, Cornell University and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.  Many of the institutions used a recent Crain’s conference where Mayor Bloomberg spoke to further their institution’s proposal.

The city is advising interested foreign schools to partner with U.S.-based universities before making their bid.  Many local universities, like Columbia University and the City University of New York, are also working on preliminary proposals, including a research center for developing information systems and an urban science center.
