Union Square is becoming a tech-centered business community with the arrival of Apple and Yelp.com this year adding to a combined 135,000 square feet of tech office space in the area. According to an article in today’s Wall Street Journal,  tech companies (including NY Convergence) and start-ups are attracted to the area’s easy subway and PATH access,  restaurants and bars, buildings with architectural appeal and the potential for big, loft like office spaces, regardless of the higher costs per square foot as compared to other NY neighboorhoods.

Venture capital firms such as Union Square Ventures and Polaris Venture Partners in the area have also helped attract companies.
