On September 11, the terrorist attacks of the World Trade Center struck many radio and television sectors. The North Tower FM radio “residents” included  stations such as WKCR and WPAT with the television side consisting of  WCBS, WNBC, WNYW, WWOR; WABC, WPIX, WNET and Telemundo’s WNJU. According to Radio World, among the 2,750 who died that day were broadcasting engineers Don DiFranco of WABC; Gerard “Rod” Copolla of WNET; Steve Jacobson of WPIX; and Bob Pattison and Isaias Rivera of WCBS.

The main antenna mast from the North Tower will be hoisted in a museum setting in 2012 to honor North Tower’s broadcast transmission facilities and engineers. The museum will house about 16 to 18 feet of the recovered antenna.
