Consumers considering deals offered by the likes of Groupon, LivingSocial, GiltCity and others should read the fine print. The New York Daily News talked to Cheryl Yeoh of CityPockets for advice on not paying more than you bargained for.

If a deal doesn’t offer specifics about what kind of wine is served at a tasting or the kind of caviar, turn it down. Before going to any new establishment, check the reviews on Yelp or other sites. She advises passing up a deal if the restaurant doesn’t have a website. Make sure alcohol is included in the deal before order wine. Also, tip as though the bill is for the full amount.

Yeoh advises steering clear of Lasik surgery, Botox or dental work discounts. “When it comes to  your health, don’t be cheap,” Yeoh told the News.
