Turntable.fm Lands Big Name Investors

Since its inception, New York-based Turntable.fm has garnered the interest of popular D.J.s, music executives, and musicians, who have all wanted to try their hand in the virtual D.J. experience. Founder Seth Goldstein announced on Tuesday that the company raised $7 million in venture financing from Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, and Lowercase Capital, among others, according to the New York Times.

The NYT article sites prominent executives from the entertainment and music industry, including Lady Gaga’s manager Troy Carter, Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, Jimmy Fallon, and the hip-hop group the Roots.

“What we’ve noticed the most is the high level of engagement among the users,” Mr. Goldstein told the Times. “Once they start using it, they stick around.”

Turntable’s future endeavors surround apps for mobile devices and the iPad, while using the acquired cash to expand its base.
