As Advertising Week is now underway in NY, one of the key issues that several speakers and panels have already addressed is digital and social media, namely their importance and how much of a budget advertisers should delegate to them.

According to The New York Times, Randall Rothenberg, president and chief exeutive of Interactive Advertising Bureau spoke about this yesterday at the IAB Mixx conference, where he said that technology was, “absolutely irrelevant to the future of digital marketing and advertising” rather as “what you put inside those media spaces and time slots,” will be more important to advertisers.

According to the Times, Rothenberg cited “a growing number of technology companies” who are developing their own content, referencing  AOL, Facebook, Google and Yahoo.
