Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are rooting for Stanford University in its bid to build a major engineering and applied science campus on Roosevelt Island. The two Stanford alums believe the university stands out and plays a major part in the tech industry as it spawned companies such as HP, Cisco, and Yahoo. According to DNAinfo, Page explains “I think the culture of Stanford with regards to entrepreneurship and high tech industry have been really amazing.”

Alongside front runner Cornell and other universities, the Palo Alto-based school hopes to win the bid in order to help position the city as another Silicon Valley. The Google praise comes at the tail end of the submission deadline, which is tomorrow, October 28.
