Last Friday, the Silicon Alley Talent Fair took place in Chelsea, where around 100 city-based technology, Internet commerce and social media firms sought out future employees, according to the New York Post.

While most job fairs consist of eager 20 somethings flashing their resumes at anyone who will take a look, talent was in high demand in Silicon Alley.  In NYC’s startup sector, the tables are turned, the Post notes.

“This is the one teeny hiring sector where there’s unbelievable demand. These guys can’t find enough people,” entrepreneur Tarek Pertew, explaining why he and a few buddies held the first Silicon Alley Talent Fair last summer, told the Post.

“Finding talented product and engineering people in the city is tough right now,” Joe Ciarallo, a VP at Buddy Media, told the NYP. The fair, he said, offers a chance to connect with the talent they seek to encounter

Potential employees were offered invitations to the job fair by its organizers, according to the Post. And tech geeks companies weren’t the only coveted individuals — those who want to leave Wall Street and Fortune 50 firms were in demand, too, the NYP emphasizes.
