EZBZ, a NY-based startup created by Shana Schlossberg, helps users find small to mid-size businesses (i.e. plumbers, car services, etc.) s through a web portal that allows people to post requests for goods or services. The suppliers in those related fields immediately receive notification from EZBZ and are given the opportunity to place competing bids to vie for the customer’s business. Currently available to NYers in the five boroughs, the site is free for both consumers and its 14,000+ NY businesses that are listed.
According to Xconomy, Schlossberg currently makes her revenue through her client’s promotional campaigns, which are charged 50 cents per lead generated. In the future she plans on growing her revenue sources through ad spacing as well. However, she sets herself apart from similar companies such as TaskRabbit and ServiceMagic in that she does not take a cut of the money generated from the sales on her site.
Schlossberg eventually plans on allowing customers to write reviews through the EZBZ platform, as she also hopes to branch out of NY and to the entire country.
[Editor's Note: EZBZ is a client of Trylon SMR, owned by Trylon Communications, Inc., the parent company of NY Convergence]
