In the efforts to stimulate the revival of 125th street, Mayor Bloomberg has announced that the city is taking proposals to help develop, operate and maintain a small business incubator located in Harlem. The goal is to boost entrepreneurship and innovation in the area.

According to the website of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the Harlem Incubator RFP gives individuals and companies the opportunity to propose ideas for startup businesses in technology, new media or services sectors. These people must submit their propositions along with a preferred location that is within a two-block radius of 125th street.

Outlines of the plans are due in mid-December, with decisions to be made in the subsequent months. Should the project be approved, there will be funding available to help finance start-up and operation expenses.
