Cablevision & Verizon Settle Network Speed Ad Lawsuit

A recent lawsuit by Cablevision against Verizon has been settled over Verizon’s alleged “misleading” broadband speed ads.  At issue was a Verizon ad campaign used an FCC study from August to show the comparison of broadband speeds offered by both cable carriers, claiming that Verizon had faster speeds than Cablevision and that the study was newly released. However,  during that time, Cablevision improved its network, deeming the study aged.

According The Verge, “Neither company provided details on the settlement beyond saying that they had “reached an agreement to resolve this dispute without further need for litigation.” Verizon told the court they would remove new and recent from their ads, but the ads have stopped running.
