Despite recent infrastructure developments AT&T has done to improve cell phone service in the NY area, Consumer Reports recently rated the carrier last for the second year in a row in its 2011 customer satisfaction survey.

According to Crain’s New York Business, over the past year in NY AT&T added 2,000 new cell sites, contributing to approximately 30% fewer dropped calls on 3G networks and faster data downloads. The company’s general manager for NY and NJ, Tom DeVito, said that iPhone 4S data downloads are 3 times faster than on other service providers.

And although AT&T was still rated last, the company says that they are on track for record iPhone sales in the fourth quarter of their fiscal year.
