At an event held at the Varick Street Incubator on December 5th, journalists from Australia, China, France, Israel and Japan were able to view a video profiling two companies that have since left the incubator and gone on to expand to their own offices in NYC. The event also included a tour by Micah Kotch from NYU-Poly of the startup companies currently working at the incubator, as well as a presentation by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) president Seth Pinsky on NY’s efforts to encourage entrepreneurship.

The video, which was a screening from the NYCEDC series, “New York City: I Made It Here,” features the two success stories of EcoLogic, a company devoted to delivering safe, cheap, and effective cleaning products and solutions to institutions, and Pixable, a photo discovery application. Anselm Doering, founder of EcoLogic, talked about how he started his company in his apartment, then moved to the incubator, and now is located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Likewise, Pixable CEO, Inaki Berenguer, started his firm at MIT before moving to the Varick Street video.
