A recent post on Charlie O’ Donnell’s this is going to be big blog discusses why it is foolish that NY Senators Chuck Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand are supporting the SOPA and PIPA bills. Like others on the topic, he explains that supporting these bills basically means that you are not supportive of the tech community and that this legislation would essentially destroy the parameters for which Internet innovation is based on.
His central point, however, is when he says that, “If NYC is going to fulfill its potential as an innovation hub, we can’t have our senators supporting SOPA. They’re on the wrong side of history here, and they don’t understand enough about the internet and how it came to be to see why.”
